EPM General Manager, Keith Williams, states, EPM is not simply a record label, but the growing potential within the company, it is quickly becoming an all purpose media company. With our current and new staff that we’ve set in place to take the business to the next level, even bigger success is inevitable. With all of our new projects and new artists that are sure to take the Gospel industry by storm, we look forward to a very bright future.
Today, Earnest Pugh is one of the most sought after male Gospel artists in the industry, but that wasn’t always the case. In April of ’05, still relatively an unknown, Pugh took a huge leap of faith making a surprise business decision and opened his own record label, EPM Music Group. His late mother, Ms. Lillie Pearl Whitmore, encouraged Earnest many times to open his own label and he finally heeded her advice to launch EPM Music. In 2006, Pugh partnered with longtime friend and business associate, Keith Williams, and funded Pugh’s first live recording, “A Worshipper’s Perspective.” Through a joint venture with Crystal Rose Records and EPM Music Group, “A Worshippers Perspective” was nationally released spawning the hits “Wrapped Up, Tied Up, Tangled Up” and “Just For Who You Are.”
After EPM’s distribution deal with Crystal Rose ended, the label partnered with Kerry Douglas’ Blacksmoke Music Worldwide to release the CD, “Live: Rain On Us.” Produced by Michael Bereal, the CD featured gospel greats Richard Smallwood and Vanessa Bell Armstrong and debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart. Subsequently the title track “Rain On Us” pushed Marvin Sapp’s “Never Would Have Made It” out of the top slot on the Hot Gospel Songs chart and held the position for six weeks. The CD ranked #6 on Billboard’s 2010 Year-End Chart and led to high-profile performances for Pugh on BET’s “Celebration of Gospel” and TBN’s “Praise The Lord” programs.
In 2011, EPM enjoyed new heights of success as Earnest Pugh released his third CD, “Earnestly Yours,” which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and produced the chart topping radio smash, “I Need Your Glory.” Still the label’s top selling CD to date, it led to Pugh’s first Stellar Award nomination and a jam-packed concert calendar.
Continuing to climb the ladder of success, in 2012 Earnest Pugh announced EPM Music group had inked a distribution deal with the #1 independent music brand in North America. Through this lucrative deal, EPM Music Group went on to sign 4 breakout artists: Charles Butler & Trinity, Keith Williams, Vincent Tharpe & Kenosis and Chrystal Rucker.
The future of EPM Music Group is limitless as they embark on opening new doors and bringing the next generation of Gospel music to the forefront.
